Jack Wheeler was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he graduated from LaGrange High School. He attended Louisiana State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Jack then received his Juris Doctorate degree from LSU Law Center. Prior to graduating from LSU Law Center he served as a summer intern with the Internal Revenue Service, General Litigation Division of the Office of the Chief Counsel in Washington, D.C. After graduating from LSU Law Center Jack moved to Washington, D.C. where he served as an Attorney-Advisor on the staff of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission=s Division of Corporate Finance. While working with the Securities and Exchange Commission Jack received a Masters of Laws Degree (LL.M.) in Securities Regulation from Georgetown Law Center. He subsequently received a Masters of Law Degree (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Jack joined the firm in 1992 as a partner. His practice covers all aspects of federal and state tax law, as well as federal and state securities law, corporate and business law, estate planning, probate and administration. Jack is a Board Certified Tax Law Specialist and Board Certified Estate Planning & Administration Specialist, as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He previously served as Chairman of the Tax Law Advisory Commission, and currently serves on the Estate Planning Advisory Commission, of the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Jack also holds a CPA certificate (inactive) and is licensed to practice law not only in Louisiana but also in Texas.
Jack is very active in the Lake Charles community, having served on the boards of numerous civic and non-profit organizations. He enjoys spending time with his family, particularly participating in outdoor activities with them. Jack is an avid runner, cyclist, swimmer and triathlete, having completed several marathons and numerous triathlons, including the Florida Ironman Triathlon in Panama City Beach, Florida.
